Rave Party

Party never ends in Goa. Rave parties are why fun-loving tourists come to Goa in massive numbers. The scene of a rave party in Goa is a combination of live DJs or bands playing psychedelic trance music, tourists and locals both teenage and young adults, liquor and sands and beaches. Parties in Goa happen both in broad daylight as well as into the wee hours of the night. They happen in beach clubs, beach bars, famous luxury hotels, as well as in the open areas of the famous beaches in Goa.

The history of the Goa rave parties dates back to the 1960s and 1970s when 'Hippies' from Europe celebrated the beauty of the beaches in the night by partying with loud music on the beach. This concept of partying on the beaches was picked up whole heartedly. Hippies, who were then tourists, settled down and made a career in organizing beach rave parties in Goa. Festivals such as Christmas and New Year see such parties regularly every year. This has become a rage now. In addition to the Christmas and New Year parties, other raves also happen which have no fixed time or date. All you need to have is some money and mood for partying.

The fascinating fact about the rave parties in Goa is the European inspired electronic trance music played. Through the years music in the Goa trance parties have shown an inimitable evolution. Today it is a mix of Goan beats with electronic trance making it a unique blend of Goan Trance. Music lovers find the sound distinctively spiritual, mystical, foot tapping and groovy. The popularity of this music has reached every corner of the world. You can find some trance playing bands and DJs of fame in the Goa trance rave parties such as

  • Infected Mushroom
  • Goa Gil
  • Etnica
  • Shiva Chandra
  • Astrix and others

If you want to catch a Goa rave party, you have quite a number of places you can go to. North Goa has a more happening rave party circuit. In North Goa, especially Anjuna beach you will find rave parties every full moon day. You can find party lovers in

  • Club Tito's
  • Hilltop
  • Curlies
  • Primrose Café
  • Mambo's
  • Shiva Valley and
  • 9 Bar

Other North Goa beaches such as Calangute, Baga, Arambol, Terekhol, Morjim, Vagator and Ozran have rave parties as well. South Goa has such trance parties in Palolem, Colva and Cabo de Rama.

A word of advice – do not encourage drug dealers if you find any.

After you have had the time of your life in a Goan rave party you can rest in a shack on the beach. Some clubs and bars have their own shack which you can use for free. Other shacks that are maintained by locals will cost a little.
