Beaches in Goa

Anjuna Beach - Hot spot for the hippies and western travelers, full moon night parties, food fiesta and flea market mark this beach. One of the most prominent beaches in Goa.

Calangute Beach - There is no stopping yourself from the fun of water sports and sunbathing. Ever bustling with people, it is an important stop for shopaholics as well. Panaji to Calangute is a drive of 45 minutes from Calangute beach in Goa.

Baga Beach - Around 16 km from Panaji city, Baga Beach in Goa is famous for angling and water sports just like Calangute. There is also a series of seafood restaurants bordering the beach here.

Miramar Beach - Close to Dona Paula, Miramir Beach is well known for its serenity and solitude. The best time to visit is from November to March. You can also view the Aguada Fort from here.

Candolim - Another popular beach of North Goa, Candolim is an extension of Baga Beach and eating joints here are famous. Prominent attractions here include St Alex Church and Kerkar Art Complex. You can shop handicrafts, accessories and garments in the nearby shops as well.

Dona Paula - This is the closest beach to Panaji and the first stop for beach lovers arriving via Panaji. It is the point of intersection of the Mandovi and Zuari rivers.

Sinquerim Beach - Around 13 km from Panaji, Sinquerim Beach is famous for the Aguada Fort that was once the 17th century Portuguese stronghold. The Taj Palace and Resorts group has now built its hotel at Fort Aguada and the place is also popular for water sports.

Beaches in southern part of Goa are mostly calm and favorite haunt of honeymoon couples. Some of the top beaches are:

Agonda Beach - Around 37 km drive Margao, the Cabo De Rama citadel is the main attraction of Agonda Beach. Luxury resorts located just minutes away from this beach and offer world class accommodation.

Colva Beach - This beach in Goa is the only crowded beaches in the region and is 39 km away from the city of Panaji. This 25 km long beach is a hub of western tourists and water sports is the most important tourist activity.

Benaulim Beach - 2 km north of Colva is the Benaulim Beach and the major attraction here is the Church of St Johns that is perched on a hill.

Palolem Beach - Situated close to the town of Margao, Palolem is the best place to enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and has a number of restaurants specializing in exquisite seafood and grill.

Varca Beach - The small town of Varca is renowned for its majestic beaches in Goa and a large fishing community is settled here. Our Lady of Gloria Church is the town's oldest structures.
