Goa Beach House, GoaGoa

If the sand, the sun and the sea excite you, what better option than to hit the road to Goa? Goa offers a perfect solace for those who are sick of the rat race and have got weary of the daily grind.

The tiny state on the western coast of India is often referred to as the tropical paradise. It is the ultimate laidback land where time seems to have lost its course.

History, Culture and Heritage of Goa:

Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese discoverer, stepped on the Goan coast long back in 1510. Until 1961, Goa was a Portuguese colony. Till date, the tradition and culture of Goa remains largely influenced by the Portuguese heritage. Since independence and subsequent union with the Indian republic, Goa remained a Union Territory. The land got the statehood only in 1987.

Goa, the Tourist's Haven:

The hippies and the suave, the models and the millionaires, the paupers and the princesses – Goa, with its perennial beauty, has always remained a tourist’s favorite. Boredom possibly has nothing to do with Goa. Feel the white sands under the feet or laze on the beach. Dance away the nights in a raving beach party. The swaying palms and the coconuts would serenade to your as the surfs pound the rocks in their own rhythm – eat, drink and be merry.

Apart from the sweeping beaches, Goa also has a number of churches and chapels. Head towards the western tip of the island of Chorao along the Mandovi River to reach Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary where you would chance upon plenty of local and migratory birds.

High up in the Mandovi River's watershed, Dudhsagar Falls, the fifth highest in the country, offers a spectacle to watch.

In between the uber luxurious to the rather low budget ones, there are plenty of hotels in goa. Add to that the numerous beach sacks. Though in the peak seasons finding a room may prove really difficult.

Goa is well connected with the rest of India by air, rail and road network. In the peak tourist season, numerous chartered flights operate to and from Goa.
