Spice Plantations in Goa

There are two Spice Plantations in Goa, both situated in the Ponda region and are engaged in producing spice powders and mixes out of pepper, cardamom, tamarind and all the other spice groups and categories.

These Spice Plantation Farms, entertain groups of tourists which crafts an interesting day out. You can see the men climb on the Betel Nut trees, over a hundred feet above the ground, swaying from tree to tree and collecting ingredients fore mixes and spices.
All the spices and plants mostly have some medicinal properties.

Spice plants you will find in the plantation are as follows:

 -  Cardamom
 -  Nutmeg
 -  Vanilla
 -  Cinnamon
 -  Cloves
 -  Chillies
 -  Coriander
 -  Cashew
 -  Betel nut palm

Some tropical fruits found in the plantations are as follows:

 -  Star fruit
 -  Custard apples
 -  Papaya
 -  Bananas
 -  Pineapples
 -  Citrus fruits

Natural Scenes near the Grounds of the Plantation:

 -  A kingfisher diving into the water
 -  The monkeys playing in the trees
 -  A worker collecting herbs and resources swinging from one tree to another

80 species of birds that have been sighted within the plantation are as follows:

 -  Birds Of Paradise
 -  Cuckoos
 -  Koel
 -  Cousals
 -  Owls
 -  Maina
 -  Horn Bills
 -  Pitas
 -  Parrots
 -  Large Eagles.

Special recreation:

After a tourist finishes off visiting the plantation, he will be served lunch in an open air restaurant by the riverside. The lunch is a very tasty local meal served on a banana leaf, supported by a sweet dish and a tipple of cashew feni or Urraq.
